Joining Forces with the United States Biochar Coalition At Wakefield BioChar, we are thrilled to collaborate with the United States Biochar Coalition (USBC) to promote the use of biochar. We take great pride in our very own Tom Marrero, who plays a pivotal role in the USBC by serving on the board of directors and co-chairing the standards committee. His contributions help establish crucial guidelines for biochar, ensuring high standards and raising awareness about this innovative industry. Through our partnership with the USBC, we strive to advance biochar technology and foster a community dedicated to environmental stewardship. USBC’s Mission The U.S. Biochar Coalition is dedicated to enhancing biochar production and usage across the nation. They advocate for legislative, policy, and regulatory actions that support biochar systems and products, aiming to break down barriers and increase federal awareness of biochar’s benefits. By connecting the biochar business community with various market sectors, the USBC fosters growth and collaboration, ensuring biochar can positively impact both the environment and the economy. The USBC works to elevate biochar’s visibility in federal and state policy discussions. They educate members of Congress, administrative officials, and industry leaders about biochar’s diverse and powerful uses as a policy tool, driving collective action and innovation within the industry. Shared Goals Wakefield BioCharโs mission aligns perfectly with the USBC’s objectives. We are committed to advancing biochar use, promoting industry collaboration, and advocating for supportive policies. Together, our efforts drive sustainable growth and development within the biochar industry, supporting broader environmental and economic goals. Behind the Mission The coalition’s policy efforts are powered by a passionate team that originally kickstarted the American Biogas Councilโs policy program in 2011. This program promotes supportive policies for the biogas industry, which uses organic materials like agricultural waste and food scraps to produce renewable energy. Thanks to their dedication, the organization has grown from just 20 companies to a vibrant community of nearly 400. Over the past 12 years, their advocacy efforts have secured hundreds of millions of dollars in federal incentives, generating an impressive $68 billion in economic value. This journey highlights how passion and dedication can drive substantial growth and positive change in an industry. Our Commitment At Wakefield BioChar, we are committed to producing high-quality biochar that enhances soil health, stores carbon, and benefits the environment. By working with the USBC, we aim to advance biochar technology and build a community that cares about our planet. Thank you for your continued support as we join forces to create a greener and more sustainable world. For more information, see The Wakefield Story or visit the United States Biochar Coalition.
